Marc A. Zechel, D.D.S., M.D., M.Sc., F.R.C.D.(C).

 

Dr. Marc Zechel is a dental specialist certified by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

 

Dr. Zechel completed his Honours Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.Hons.) and Masters of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in the discipline of Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Western Ontario.  He then completed his dental training (D.D.S.) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2002.  In 2005, he earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and, in 2007 his Certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, both from Case Western Reserve University and The University Hospitals of Cleveland.

 

Dr. Zechel has published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and extensively in Immunology and Neurosurgery literature.

 

 

After completing his Residency in OMS, he was recruited as Section Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

for the Veterans Affairs hospital in Cleveland Ohio where he mentored dental residents and OMS residents.  He also was made an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine lecturing dental students as the course director for Local Anesthesia and Pain Control.  During this time he was also an Associate in private practice for OMS.

 

He returned to his Canadian homeland in 2013.  He is a member of the Ontario Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Canadian Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the Ontario Dental Association and the Bay of Quinte Dental Association where he serves as Secretary/Treasurer and Vice President.  He is also serving as Chair of the Quinte Hospital Corporation (QHC) Infection Prevention and Control Committee.

In addition to being a duly recognized Specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Canada and the U.S.A., Dr. Zechel is a Diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners, having completed all the components of the United States Medical Licensing Examination.  He is a Candidate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
